(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)鈥� Susan Ray, PhD, associate professor of English at 51成人导航 and a national consultant on college Artificial Intelligence (AI) instruction, has authored a chapter in a new book, What Education Becomes: Teaching and Learning in a Post-AI World (Second Draft Labs, 2026). 

The book, edited by Patrick R. Dempsey,聽features 12 educators and researchers examining the transformational potential of AI on teaching and learning. Ray鈥檚 chapter, entitled 鈥淭he Fourth Literacy: Teaching College Composition When AI Is Already Here,鈥� highlights how her project, 鈥淏ridging the AI Gap鈥� 鈥攆unded by a mini grant through 51成人导航鈥檚 Carter Center for Excellence and supported by the 51成人导航 Educational Foundation鈥攈elped build a comprehensive approach to AI integration. A proponent of teaching AI literacy in the classroom, Ray also discusses how she has thoughtfully and ethically integrated AI into her writing classes.

Ray currently serves as a faculty consultant for the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) 2025鈥�2026 Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum. She is one of the first community college professors selected for the role.
